Final Cut Express 4

Today I finally got Final Cut Express 4. I've been waiting for a very long times to get it. All this time I've just been using imovie 08'. Imovie is pretty cool but Final Cut is the best. You can do green screen, saber effects, and all types of things imovie can't do. It's time for me to take a bigger step in movie making and it looks like ill be using this for a while.

Reading Log: Sun & Spoon

Spoon is motivated to take one of the suns his grandmother has hanging on the wall. He wants something to remember because she's dead. I can tell how Spoon feels because when my great grandmother died I was searching her house to find something that she either touched, used, or had.

Sweet Berries

Today when I came back from the laundry I noticed my dad bought a lot of groceries. He showed us what he got. Then he asked us to try these strawberries. Those things were so sweet. I've never tasted anything like them. Now the box they came in is empty. I don't think any strawberry could top those ones.

Taking a Bigger Step with Reading

Last week I started reading this very good book called 47. Ever since I've started reading it i've been lost in the book (interested). I knew that was a good thing because my teacher said that if we're not lost in our books we're basically bored with that book and she doesn't want that to happen. So, my strategy is to always pick books that are on my level (which is V), so I don't get bored in the book. If you're bored you either have a book that is above your level or you're reading a book that is below your level. My teacher also said that when you read books that are way behind your level your level drops. Basically, when you read books that are below you, you become accustomed to the lower level books are the books at your level bore you out. She also said "Welcome to 5th grade" which meant whatever things you did or books you read in fourth grade have to go. You would be able to use the same strategy but you can't read the lower level books.
Some of the books she told us not to read were "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", "Goosebumps", and "Captain Underpants". It was very hard to stop reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid because that was my favorite series. Also the new book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4: Dog Days" would be out in about a month and I wanted to be able to have my friends envy me over it. I am available to read that book at home or for fun but I can't constantly read it for my independent reading time.
Since It's getting late and I have to get to school I guess I better wrap this up.
So since I've stopped reading those lower level books things have changed for me.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school I was happy to see all of my friends from last year. This year I was in 5th grade and we were the senior class, the lead class, we were finally the oldest kids in school. It felt good to have lots of privaleges like prom, valentines dance, camp getaway, and different opportunities to do lots of different things.
Each year the boys play with a new brand of toys. Last year it was Bakugan and this year its finger bikes, skateboards, and skateboards. All the girls ever do is play with fortune tellers and get themselves in trouble. Us boys are smart, we wait until the right time to play with our things unlike the girls who just take things out in the middle of class. Thats our secret to not get in trouble.
Since we are the senior class we have much more responsibilities and we have to set good examples for the younger grades. Last year the senior class didn't do that much good of a job so thats why we are off to a rough start. It will take some time but we will eventually get there!

Getting my Plan B Wooden Tech Deck

During my vacation at Florida my mom picked me up a Plan B wooden Tech Deck and a Tony hawk Tech Deck also. I was so happy and the reason I got two was because they were like twenty seven of them at target so we got more than one. As soon as I got home I ripped it open and put it together. I played with it a little then made a video. I really like the deck and I'm looking forward to getting another one.

Getting New Tech Decks

The other day I got some new Tech Decks. The first thing I did when I got them was take some pictures of them.

I called all my friends and told them we were going to have a skateboard trick competition when we got back to school. I played with them for a while and then went outside to play. All of a sudden now I'm really into them like I was in 3rd grade.

I was really happy to be interested in them again because I haven't played with Tech Decks in a long time and they seem awesome.

Brainwashed

Right now I've realized I've been brainwashed. All of these years I thought summer was two and a half months. This year I realize it's only 10 weeks. After my dad told me this I was so upset so I called every one of my friends to tell them this.

After they heard the news they were pretty ashamed as well. I was really upset about this. I wanted to curse the summer and school. What really got me mad was when one of my friends told me Obama was going to increase the school year.

Well, since I really only have about four weeks to have fun this summer before we start shopping for new school clothes. So before the summer is over I better make the best of it!

Intrepid

The other day I went to the Intrepid Space, Air, and, Sea museum. I saw lots of navy air planes. We were able to go to inside one of the Navy planes. While there I took some great pictures and movies on my camera. I also took some pictures of my friends and I looking at the amazing sights.

Before lunch we got to see a movie about the history of the Intrepid ship. This ship was used for launching missiles. It was a warship that was used in the 1940's to scare the russians from launching bombs.

When we got to the gift shop I thought people with no money should stay out of the gift shop because they just can't help the tempatation of asking my mom to buy them things. We were about to leave but, the busses were late so we went to play an obsticle course. The first time I played it I lost to my friend, but the next time I lost to my sister. This trip was very educational and exciting! The trip to Intrepid was very fun and educational and I hope I get to go there again!

Sesame Place

Going to Sesame Place was so fun. We got to go on a tour bus. The bus ride was so long that I slept three times then woke up again. When we arrived I went on a rollercoaster. Next I went inside a baby pool with my sister (I had to do it). The best ride I went on was this ride called the Splash Castle. Every five minutes The Count would count down from five and then a very huge bucket of water would fall on all if us. I stayed there for about three hours. After we had to take a shower, which I wasn't that enthusiastic about.

The bus ride home didn't seem long. When we got home the first thing I did was jump right into bed. Right now It feels like I'm still floating in the water. Sesame Place was the best trip I ever went on!

Next Year

You know it's pretty weird that I can't wait to were my uniform in a couple of months. I don't believe I'm the same person who hated uniform last year. I'm really looking forward to school because I will be in the Advanced Band. Last year I was in begginer band. The Advanced Band played WAY better songs. The begginer band plays jazz only. The Advanced Band plays jazz, hip hop, rock, soul, and, smooth jazz. In order to be in the advanced band you have to have a year of experiance. So this year I'll be in the advanced band so that is why I can't wait for school and I hope it comes soon!

The Loooong Day

Today was pretty boring. I think it was the most boring day in my life. Since I'm the oldest I finish first before anyone. While I'm waiting for the slowpokes to finish, I entertain my self by counting each of my fingers and multiplying them by 100. It can be pretty entertaining when your bored.

So after the slopokes finished their work one of my friends from summer camp last year showed up. I was so happy to see him. I thought to myself "finally, a person my age!" Later on on the day my friend and I played while the teachers talked about who knows what. My friend really made my day and I was so happy to about this day that I forgot I was even in summer!

Fun?

You know, I'm really looking forward to actually doing something "fun" this summer. All i've been doing is helping other children and doing work. But, my troubles are almost over because this is the next-to-last week of summer camp.

Last year when I left my old school I had to make goodbye cards for everyone. So instead of being all mushy and saying things I didnt mean I wrote EXACTLY what I thought of them. Some of the kids complained to the teachers, so she came up with a plan: whoever didn't get a card was the culprit. But I was prepared for that also, I made a card for myself. I was going to try that this year, but I didn't want to risk getting found out.

So anyway since I am doing something fun this summer so this summer won't be all that bad.

My Canon PowerShot A530

My new camera is turning out to be very fun. The camera is called a CanonPoweShot A530. It has 5.0 Mega Pixels and a zoom lens. It also has a regular camera and a video camera. My camera can can shoot Macro pictures without a Macro lens. I like my camera because it has a lot of controls that I know how to use. I am happy my dad bought me this camera!

Me Practicing My Bass

Did you know that I play the bass guitar? I started a few months ago and I'm getting pretty good. I have a Dean bass guitar and I try to practice with it every day.

This movie shows me practicing. My daddy used my camera to make this movie.

Memories From Chuck E Cheese's

Today was a very busy day. I went to Chuck E Cheese's for my best friend's birthday/going away party. While I was there I was waiting for some of my other friends to arrive before I started playing games. When they arrived the first game I played was Street Hoops.

After playing games we took a break and sang "Happy Birthday" to the birthday boy. After getting pizza, cake, drinks, and the rest of the refreshments, I took my little sister to play some games so she could win tickets of her own. After that she seemed pretty satisfied with what she had.

Here are some videos from the party:

Fun at Chuck E Cheese's (Part Two)

Later around 5:00 p.m. my father came and picked me and my sister up from the party. I was sad because my friend was moving away to Texas. I just met him this year, and already we have to separate. But I remembered my mom saying that we might be able to visit him, so after that thought I felt better.

When we left the party I took some other pictures of the front of Chuck E Cheese's and that made me remember all of the good times we had together.

After we left the party my sister, father, and I passed by a street fair called "Afro Punk Festival". At the street fair people were performing tricks on their bikes and also on their skateboards. There were different bands preforming rock music as well.

Here are the Afro Punk videos:

My dad had told me that it was a good thing we were prepared with our cameras or else we wouldn't have had footage of this event. That situation taught me a very good lesson: always be prepared!

Wow, What an Extravagant Day!

Today was the 3rd of July so we had a day off of summer camp. Everything started off good. Then I thought: "could this day get any better?" Believe it or not, it actually did get better. First I got the best haircut, then I got my own camera! Next, we went to a Mexican restaurant called Chipotle and ate in Prospect Park. That was our picnic. At the park I tested out my camera, threw a football, a frisbee, and played tennis with another family.

When we got home I started to brainstorm and think about what I should write on my blog. Today was a very special and very exciting day for me especially because everything started and ended off in a happy mood.

I hope you enjoy my entry!

First Week of Summer Camp

It is finally summer. I was happy until I found out I had to go to summer camp. When I found out what summer camp was going to be like this year, I felt disappointed.

First of all there were hardly any children my age. Second, there aren't a lot of trips planned.

Then I found out that the work we were going to do was easy, so I thought this would be a blast. So now I think summer camp will be great.

I also think this would be fun because we go outside all the time. When we go outside my friend and I teach some of the younger children how to play football. We also teach them some very slick moves in basketball. Once we even taught them how to throw a curveball.

I've been having lots of fun so far and I'm really happy to see some of my old friends. Now, since I have been helping the other students, I think I might just give this summer camp idea another chance!
