Father and Son Day

Today I'm going to the bookstore with my father. We'll spend an entire day together. We're looking for books about iMovie, iPhoto, and maybe some other stuff. Well we're on the train now so I better cut this entry short!

11:53 am
Well, I'm back. We had a great time, we went to Toysrus first to get some skateboard helmets and pads. Next we went to element skateboard shop to try to find a helmet but couldn't.

1:07 pm
Well I'm on the train now heading back to Brooklyn. We brought back some delicious grape apple juice. We got the juice from a farmer's market. We're getting ready to transfer so I'll have to leave.

1:51 pm
We just got back. Were in the house now and I'm just finishing up this blog post. So see you guys later!

Taking a Bigger Step with Reading

Last week I started reading this very good book called 47. Ever since I've started reading it i've been lost in the book (interested). I knew that was a good thing because my teacher said that if we're not lost in our books we're basically bored with that book and she doesn't want that to happen. So, my strategy is to always pick books that are on my level (which is V), so I don't get bored in the book. If you're bored you either have a book that is above your level or you're reading a book that is below your level. My teacher also said that when you read books that are way behind your level your level drops. Basically, when you read books that are below you, you become accustomed to the lower level books are the books at your level bore you out. She also said "Welcome to 5th grade" which meant whatever things you did or books you read in fourth grade have to go. You would be able to use the same strategy but you can't read the lower level books.
Some of the books she told us not to read were "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", "Goosebumps", and "Captain Underpants". It was very hard to stop reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid because that was my favorite series. Also the new book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4: Dog Days" would be out in about a month and I wanted to be able to have my friends envy me over it. I am available to read that book at home or for fun but I can't constantly read it for my independent reading time.
Since It's getting late and I have to get to school I guess I better wrap this up.
So since I've stopped reading those lower level books things have changed for me.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school I was happy to see all of my friends from last year. This year I was in 5th grade and we were the senior class, the lead class, we were finally the oldest kids in school. It felt good to have lots of privaleges like prom, valentines dance, camp getaway, and different opportunities to do lots of different things.
Each year the boys play with a new brand of toys. Last year it was Bakugan and this year its finger bikes, skateboards, and skateboards. All the girls ever do is play with fortune tellers and get themselves in trouble. Us boys are smart, we wait until the right time to play with our things unlike the girls who just take things out in the middle of class. Thats our secret to not get in trouble.
Since we are the senior class we have much more responsibilities and we have to set good examples for the younger grades. Last year the senior class didn't do that much good of a job so thats why we are off to a rough start. It will take some time but we will eventually get there!
