Taking a Bigger Step with Reading

Last week I started reading this very good book called 47. Ever since I've started reading it i've been lost in the book (interested). I knew that was a good thing because my teacher said that if we're not lost in our books we're basically bored with that book and she doesn't want that to happen. So, my strategy is to always pick books that are on my level (which is V), so I don't get bored in the book. If you're bored you either have a book that is above your level or you're reading a book that is below your level. My teacher also said that when you read books that are way behind your level your level drops. Basically, when you read books that are below you, you become accustomed to the lower level books are the books at your level bore you out. She also said "Welcome to 5th grade" which meant whatever things you did or books you read in fourth grade have to go. You would be able to use the same strategy but you can't read the lower level books.
Some of the books she told us not to read were "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", "Goosebumps", and "Captain Underpants". It was very hard to stop reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid because that was my favorite series. Also the new book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4: Dog Days" would be out in about a month and I wanted to be able to have my friends envy me over it. I am available to read that book at home or for fun but I can't constantly read it for my independent reading time.
Since It's getting late and I have to get to school I guess I better wrap this up.
So since I've stopped reading those lower level books things have changed for me.
